ABOUT THE RITUAL
Dry brushing, also known as gharsana, is an important component of Ayurveda, the ancient Indian system of medicine. The goal of dry brushing in Ayurveda is to move lymphatic fluid towards the heart. This is intended to transport stored toxins and metabolic waste products to the liver and kidneys for eventual elimination.
Face brushing is based on the same mechanisms as classic dry brushing. The brush massage stimulates lymphatic drainage and blood circulation in the face, removing old, dead skin cells and eliminating toxins.
