Honeybee Hippie
The year was 2022 when Jill’s oldest daughter gave birth to her first child, making Jill a fresh new grandmother. Her daughter didn’t have many ideas of what to use on her skin while pregnant or on her new baby, so as grandmas do, Jill started experimenting making some products in her kitchen. What started as a labor of love quickly grew into something more. The whipped tallow balm and herbal bath soak Jill started making was loved by her daughter and grandbaby, and was also loved by a local refill shop who wanted to carry it for their customers. Jill’s daughter Mia stepped in and said “Mom, you should really sell these” and brought to life the vision online. Together they coined the name Honeybee Hippie inspired by the backyard beekeeping Jill was doing and a play on the natural “hippie” lifestyle they felt Jill always lived. They loved that it looked a little like “HB Hippie”, a shout out to their hometown of Huntington Beach where the brand was born.
Today, Honeybee Hippie ships products across the United States and internationally, can be found in dozens of stores and online retailers, and proudly employs a growing team of 12 people, including a handful of family members, church friends and even Mia’s husband Joey running the business operations, and the grandbaby count grew from one to two. The kitchen was outgrown and they moved into a sweet warehouse, where every product is still handmade down the street with that same love and passion.
